This weeks book review is the bone collector by Jeffery Deaver
This is one of the rare cases where I’ve seen the film before reading the book. Which was by accident but never the less annoys me to no end. So when reading this I had the images of Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie as the characters which aren’t as described in the book but once I’ve seen a film I’m stuck with the appearances of the characters from that
Anyway back to the book, Lincoln Rhyme, a retired NYPD, is brought out of retirement. This would seem like an okay thing however, Lincoln is paralyzed from the neck down apart from a single finger. He is on the verge of committing euthanasia by employing a doctor who will help him commit suicide. When the case peaks his interest and he delays this plan. Acting through Amelia Sachs, a police officer, they begin to help the NYPD unravel the clues left at each murder leading them to the next, hoping they will be able to get to the next victim in time whilst Lincoln analyses the clues hoping to figure out the criminals profile I don’t want to be a spoiler so I will leave it there.
Brilliantly written, is isn’t an easy read, it does require some persistence to get through and piece the puzzle together. But is that’s what you like then it’s great. Psychological thrillers are my favorite genre and I hope to read more in the Lincoln rhyme series!
